Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) Energy

There are compromises between Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) and Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT), the main advantage of VAWT require less maintenance.

While VAWT have fewer components that can wear and require repair, the forces acting on a VAWT are less turbulent than those acting on a HAWT, as a HAWT charges rotational direction to pointed directly at the wind, the blades and the whole Turbine is pitched back & forth and thus loads the bearings unevenly on a HAWT.

1) What kind of places are good to install this type of wind turbine ?
The ideal site to install should have consistent high average wind speeds and minimal turbulence.
The higher the average wind speed, the higher the generated power, and greater the total output of electricity.
(For example, a wind speed of 5 m/s can generate nearly twice the electricity than a wind speed of 4 m/s.)

2) Does the wind turbine need routine maintenance after installation ?
